Evalyn Sadlier Jones

The Evalyn Sadlier Jones Branch opened in 1994. Today, this complex, known as the C.J. Lofino Family Complex, has grown and expanded to consist of the Evalyn Sadlier Jones Fitness Branch, the Alpine Climbing Tower and the Selby Aquatics Center.

The Evalyn Sadlier Jones fitness branch allows families to have many choices of activities to enhance their health. This two-story fitness building with a spacious strength and conditioning and free weight area is fun for the whole family. A large aerobics studio provides space for classes where participants can choose from over 40 offerings. Three racquetball courts, located at the rear of the gym, can be reserved for play; while the gymnasium, where basketball reigns, provides play for leagues of all ages as well as other sports. Childcare is offered to parents for two hours while they workout, with assistance of a beeper for emergencies.

For those who love water activities, an indoor pool and spa are in an adjacent wing where members can enjoy free swim, lap swim, lessons or do water therapy. On the second floor you will find an indoor track for walking and jogging as well as a cardio room with all types of endurance equipment as well as TVs for your pleasure and distraction. From the second floor track you can look down into the gym and fitness areas below and note the buzz of the branch community.

Behind the branch is the Alpine Climbing Tower complete with a climbing wall and climbing tower. What a wonderful way to spend a day developing teamwork skills, leadership and self-confidence with these two excellent choices.

To the front of the branch is our newest offering. The Welch Family Center opened in 2006 means and offers teens a safe and drug-free place to hangout with friends. They can play pool, foosball, ping-pong and other table sports. A DJ station offers a state-of-the-art sound system, lighting system and special effects for parties and enjoyment. The center is also be home to a youth fitness center for strength and cardio training for children ages 7-13. A computer room for doing homework and tutoring is also provided.

Across the street is the Selby Aquatic Center. A 50-meter competitive pool with a 20-meter diving area is an exceptional facility for competitive training by the Sharks Swim Team and large swim meets complete with bleachers and snack bar. Also, located at the center is a shallow pool and playground complete with slides for those 10 years old and younger. The Josephine Lofino Splash Park opened in the fall of 2005 for toddlers to enjoy water sprays from many different umbrellas, buckets and other geo designs. There is also a picnic area with tables and a covered area for families to gather while their young children enjoy the water features.

So whether it is a quick cardio workout, a summer day at the water park with the kids, or a basketball game for seniors the C.J. Lofino Family Complex has something for everyone.
