The Kalish House is a residential group home for boys (ages 11-18) who are in foster care. In this urban setting, the boys are able to experience life lessons that will help them grow into responsible young men, based on the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. They are all required to go to school, and many work. All the boys experience the joys and challenges of living closely with one another, learning how to resolve conflicts, successfully completing house chores, accessing area services, and much more. Our staff works closely with the youth as both behavior coaches and role models. Our on-site counselors work both individually and with groups, helping them feel supported and cared for while they learn about becoming adults and successfully transitioning into a more permanent placement within the community.
