Part of the Community Based Care (CBC) project for Sarasota, Manatee and DeSoto counties, the Safe Children Coalition of Manatee County is a collaboration between the Sarasota Family YMCA and many local community entities who together provide a continuum of child welfare services for dependent children who have been abused, neglected or abandoned. Direct services provided include: case management for foster care and protective services; independent living services for young adults aging out of foster care; foster home licensing/ placement; and adoptions. The Safe Children Coalition is comprised of subcontracted agencies that oversee and manage case management, prevention-diversion and medical case management services. In addition, there are many other community collaborations, stakeholders and providers who together help foster hope for dependent children in Manatee County.

When you open your heart and home to foster or adopt a child, you open the possibilities
for them - you foster hope. There is a critical need for foster parents who can provide
safe, stable nurturing homes for the hundreds of children in foster care. Homes are
needed for sibling groups, teens, infants/toddlers and children with special needs.
