The Bowman Ranch is a 20-acre residential group home for young women (ages 11-18) who are in foster care. We base our living and growing experience on the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
RANCH LIFE
All our residents are required to go to school and some may even work. They also meet frequently with our behavior coaches and an on-site counselor that helps them to learn about themselves. During these sessions they learn about self-awareness, self-respect, and self-reliance in a safe and caring setting.
At the Ranch we also experience the challenges and joys of living in the country. With a barn and five horses on the premises, the girls learn to care for and ride them. Residents build life management skills as they learn about home and self-care, go to school, access medical care, link with community support systems, and practice leadership roles within the group of nearly 20 residents. Achieving these skills helps our young women successfully transition to a more permanent placement in the community.
The YMCA operates residential group homes where the primary mission is to provide a safe, healthy, responsible and progressive environment for youth who, through no fault of their own, are in the foster care system. We want our residents to develop the skills to lead productive lives. We want them to feel community caring and support through our services.

Applicants are encouraged to become engaged in the placement process. Staff at the programs is committed to being part of the resident’s support system to appropriately prepare the resident for admission, answer questions about the facility and program, and help the incoming resident understand why the selection of a Residential Service program will benefit him/her.
Through linkages with our community, we offer our residents opportunities for expanding mind and spirit through the arts, cultural, and social opportunities, and access to familiar religious, cultural and ethnic traditions and practices.
