Going for the Gold: Sarasota's Gold Standard

GOING FOR THE GOLD is the YMCA Foundation's annual fund raising black tie dinner and auction. Established in 1991, this event has grown to become one of the largest, if not the largest, fund raising one-night event in Sarasota. A sold-out crowd of almost 500 enjoys a sumptuous dinner, huge live and silent auctions, entertainment and dancing.

A committee of 100 community leaders and dedicated chairs work hard all year long to: create innovative themes that change annually; obtain auction items and ads for our evening program; and solicit corporate and patron sponsorships. Funds from this event benefit the YMCA Foundation whose mission it is to support the programs and services of the Sarasota Family YMCA.

GOLD climbed from humble "honorable mention" to being touted the best and most successful one-night event in Sarasota. The event has raised more than $7 million to benefit Sarasota's foster children and those less fortunate. Click here to learn more about our history.

 

Cirque du Gold 2012:

Celebrating 21 Years of GOING FOR THE GOLD

Join us on May 5, 2012 (from 6:00 PM to 11:30 ) as we celebrate 21 Years of GOING FOR THE GOLD. This year’s event is being chaired by Debbie Dannheisser, Denise Mei and Dawn Epstein. The theme “Cirque du Gold” will employ the magical “Cirque du Le” feel featuring theatrical aerialists and Cirque-inspired performers. Mimes will be spotlighted and depict scenes narrating the Y’s programs, adding a dramatic and educational component to the evening! As always, expect a night of awesome auction items, dining, entertainment and dancing. This exciting event will be at the Frank G. Berlin, Sr. Branch. Last year’s event raised $520,000 bringing the total dollars raised to over $ 7 million.
