President/CEO Within the spectrum of YMCAs located across the country, the Sarasota Family YMCA represents a distinctive model of service delivery that integrates traditional health and fitness programs with wide-ranging community based care programs that focus on the most underserved and at-risk families. The Sarasota Family Y is one of 20 designated lead community agencies for the State of Florida’s Department of Children and Families (DCF) to provide foster care and outreach in the counties of Sarasota, Manatee and DeSoto operating as the Safe Children Coalition. With total annual operating revenues of over $38 million, over 70% of which is government funded, the Sarasota Family Y has 695 full- and part-time employees and touches more than 70,000 lives including community members affiliated with its four fitness branches and more than 60 youth and family development programs. The Sarasota Y serves Southwest Florida through fitness and traditional Y services in Sarasota and Hardee counties and includes aquatics, camps, child care, gymnastics, youth sports, health and wellness, social and cultural programs, adult sports and educational courses. General membership exceeds 30,000 individuals. The Y recently launched an innovative cycling program in partnership with the Neuro Challenge Foundation which provides equipment and support for families living with Parkinson’s disease. In addition, the Y will host the 2013 Pan American Masters Championships at their aquatic center expected to attract more than 2,000 swimmers from the Western Hemisphere. Beginning in 1991 with the opening of their first emergency shelter, the Y has continued to expand its community based care by adding unique programs to benefit families and children including child welfare related services, child abuse prevention, adoption, summer camps, tutoring and mentoring programs, after-school childcare, a homeless youth runaway shelter, alternative schools, family management counseling and homeless education literacy programs. The Y’s middle and high school program, Triad, operates two alternative schools located in Sarasota and Venice for students who have committed an expellable offense. The Sarasota County School District works closely with the Y on other programs in which the Y provides intervention and educational outreach services designed to be preventive and which are provided by their Family Management program. The foster care program serves over 2,200 children through approximately 300 licensed foster care beds on an ongoing basis. The program strives towards family reunification and permanency which includes adoption. The Kalish House Resource Center works with teens and young adults who are aging out of the foster care system to improve life skills and help them find employment and further their education The Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) helps pre-school children from low-income families by empowering parents to be their first influential teachers. The Y-Achievers Mentoring Program assists at-risk youth ages 13-18 in reaching their potential through academic, social and character development services. College scholarships are also provided through this program. The Sarasota Y works hand and hand with the YMCA Foundation of Sarasota, Inc. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) direct service organization that was established in 1981. The purpose of the Foundation is to encourage donor participation in a variety of innovative giving programs: trusts and bequests; major gifts; capital campaigns; annual giving; program support; discretionary and educational scholarship funds; grants and special events. Housekeeper/Janitor Assist in cleaning the facility and to ensure that the facility is kept safe and sanitary for use. Position is at the Evalyn Sadlier Jones Branch. Saturday and Sunday Schedule 10:00 to 7:00 Teachers - Certified in Social Studies Works on a teaching team to address the academic/educational instruction needs of the students, as well as provide for the safety, supervision, character development and behavior management of students. Youth Education Advocate - SHL Provides services that aid in the successful education of homeless unaccompanied youth and school age children in foster care. Camp Counselors - Seasonal Summer Camp Counselors for the Berlin Branch Camp Incredible. Supervises children in group activities ensuring their safety and well being at all times. Group Exercise Instructors-Part Time Instructors needed at the Babe Weiller Branch for the following: Body Pump. Part time positions mornings, evenings and weekends. Group Leader- Hardee County The responsibility of the general health and safety of a group of children as scheduled. Follow the directive of the Childcare Director and Childcare Coordinator in the execution of planned activities. Gymnastics Coach The Gymnastics Coach will be responsible for planning, implementing and instructing all scheduled practices based on the YMCA's/USAG progressive gymnastics competitive program. Location - Frank G. Berlin Branch Gymnastics Instructor- Part Time The Gymnastics Instructor will be responsible for planning, implementing and instructing all scheduled classes based on the YMCA's progressive gymnastics program. Position available at the Frank G. Berlin, Sr. branch. Lifeguard-Part Time Continuous scanning and patrolling of pool area. Positions available at the Evalyn Sadlier Jones YMCA and Berlin YMCA locations. Various PT schedules available between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Membership Representatives- Part Time Flexible schedules needed at the Evalyn Sadlier Jones Branch and the Frank G Berlin Branch Office Assistant- Triad Provides administrative assistance to the management, consultants, instructional and support staff. Serves as assistant Nurses' Aide for the Program. Serves breakfast and lunch. PT Hours 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. M-F (School Days) Office Manager Responsible for day to day office transactions of the Membership Services desk. Safe Place/Outreach Specialist Part time position, 20 hours per week. Provides outreach and information on the Safe Place as well as Youth and Family Services Program. Position is located in Sarasota. Group Exercise - Cycling Opportunities for Group Exercise Instructor. Position available at the Evalyn Sadlier Jones Branch. Candidate needed with Mad Dogg Spinning Certification for Tuesday/Thursday 6:00 a.m. class at ESJ Tower Instructor- Part Time Responsible for performing and training programmed adventure activities. Position available at the Evalyn Sadlier Jones branch. Various schedules both weekdays and weekends. Behavior Coach - Youth Shelter Works on a youth-care team to address the safety, supervision, instruction, practical care, behavior modification, and role modeling for residents. Varied schedule with availability to work days, nights, overnight and/or weekends. Fitness Instructor - Part Time Provides one-on-one fitness assistance to members. Group Leader Supervise children in group activities, ensuring general safety and health per established guidelines. Hours are Monday through Friday 2:30 pm - 6:00 pm. Position located at school site in Sarasota. Program Director Sports Operations The program Director Sports Operations is responsible for the daily operations of all youth and adult sports programs for the Sarasota Y Association. Responsibilities include oversight of all sports and gymnasium activities Association wide.
