Wednesday, September 24, 2008 Design Contest Deadline for New Balance Ringling Bridge Run Commemorative Shirts is Dec. 1

Calling all artists: pull out your paintbrush for a great cause. The Sarasota Family YMCA, in conjunction with sponsor New Balance Sarasota, is in search of original paintings, drawings, photos or other artwork to feature on the official race T-shirts for the annual New Balance Ringling Bridge Run: A Family Event to take place in Sarasota, January 24, 2009.

The ideal shirt design will include the event title of New Balance Ringling Bridge Run: A Family Event, the New Balance logo and a depiction of the Ringling Bridge. Entries will be accepted until December 1, 2008.

In addition to the artist’s artwork featured on the event shirts, the winner will receive a $100 New Balance Sarasota gift card and a free 6-month Sarasota Family YMCA membership. The top 10 finalists will obtain a complimentary entry into the 2009 race, and the finalists’ designs will be on display at the YMCA’s Frank G. Berlin, Sr. Branch leading up to the race.

The sixth-annual event will consist of a four-mile race followed by a one-mile family fun run in Sarasota. The festivities will continue at the Van Wezel Performing Arts premise and will include food, rides and fun. All of the race’s expected 2,000 participants will receive the race shirts featuring the chosen design, and additional shirts will be available for purchase at the event.
